Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces
A revitalized the Russian player secured his initial title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Moutet.
This represents his initial title since the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since March of that year.
The win also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 distinct tournaments.
"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring reactions on court had caused some to question if his ability to play at the top level was over.
But the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, supported by an improved serve.
The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five games to take the lead.
Both players traded service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to force a decider.
Moutet defended 4 initial break points in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.
Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
