An individual who laced sweets with tranquilliser and gave them to youngsters at a youth camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two boys both nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight minors and a grown-up became sick at the facility in mid-summer.
The 76-year-old, from that region, admitted guilt to a total of 17 charges when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
Nevertheless, he denied one particular crime he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was held in detention prior to a additional proceeding on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, outlined the criminal behavior to the legal proceedings.
She stated his victims were under-privileged children who were attending a youth camp which he operated.
The man played a "candy game" with the minors, the legal counsel said, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings the defendant had conducted this practice with the children "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She said the man had been able to explain this repeatedly as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had suspicions in recently.
Mrs Prior KC stated further: "This year his stepson had suspicions about the situation, for good reason.
"They decided to have a look in the individual's items."
The legal counsel stated materials including lubricant, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his family member alerted the authorities about his suspicions.
She explained Ruben proceeded to conduct the "treat game" with six boys that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that time," she stated further.
The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
Mrs Prior said the children were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the stepson contacted the law enforcement once more.
She explained the man then conducted the "treat game" in a area of five youngsters.
